Jack x Finley 2026 Brittany Breeding
Jack (bitch)
Finley (stud)
Jack × Finley – Field Trial Lines, Wild Bird Proven, Family Ready
Grouse Brook Kennel is excited to announce a planned breeding between Jack and Finley, a cross designed to blend field trial championship bloodlines with a lifetime of wild bird experience. This pairing is aimed at hunters and families who want a dog that can excel in the woods and still settle at their feet at the end of the day.
About Jack
“Jack” – American Brittany (female)
Jack is a powerful, intelligent wild bird dog with field trial championship lines on both sides of her pedigree. She isn’t just bred for performance she proves it in real covers, season after season.
She has extensive bird work on:
Ruffed grouse and woodcock in NY and PA
Prairie chickens, quail, and pheasants in Kansas
What sets Jack apart is her nose, brain, and stamina:
Long nose: Jack consistently winds birds from distance and uses her nose to stay connected to running birds instead of just the last place they were.
Relocation & tracking ability: On runners, she excels at careful, methodical relocations tracking a moving bird with her nose, easing forward instead of busting in, and pinning them down for the gun. Whether it’s a running pheasant or a grouse that’s slipped off downhill, Jack uses wind, terrain, and scent to stay on the bird and finish the job.
Endurance in real cover: Jack has the motor to hunt hard all day in grouse woods or prairie grass and come back ready to go again the next morning. She handles hills, thick cover, and changing conditions without backing off, maintaining focus and effort from the first hour to the last.
Jack hunts with grit and style, driving hard in the cover while still being naturally cooperative and biddable. She’s the kind of dog that makes you trust what she’s telling you about the woods in front of you.
About Finley
“Finley” – American Brittany (stud)
Finley is a seasoned, proven stud out of field trial championship lines, with a lifetime of wild bird work across the country. His pedigree brings structure, consistency, and performance; his hunting record proves those papers mean something.
Finley has hunted wild birds in:
PA, NY, WI, MI, SD, ND, MT, IA, and KS
Over the years, he has successfully hunted:
Ruffed grouse
Pheasant
Hungarian partridge
Sharptail grouse
Quail
Finley consistently shows the traits that define a top-tier wild bird dog:
Long nose: He picks up scent early and holds it, allowing him to lock up well ahead of the bird.
Caution and staunchness: He points with confidence and stays pointed—no creeping, no guessing.
Composure on wild birds: On jumpy, pressured birds, Finley keeps his head.
He has held point for over an hour—because when Finley says a bird is there, it’s there.
Finley has never experienced a structural or health issue and still has the stamina to hunt day after day, even for a month straight. He reads cover with maturity, approaches birds with the right mix of intensity and restraint, and adapts quickly to new situations and terrain.
Temperament & Home Life
Both dogs bring more than just bird work.
Finley is:
Steady, gentle, and people-oriented
An intact male who will peacefully share his food dish with puppies
Calm and easy to live with, the kind of dog that blends seamlessly into a household
Jack shares that same balance of drive outside and composure inside. Serious and all business on birds, she’s affectionate and content to relax once the hunt is over.
This cross is intentionally designed to produce pups that are:
Wild-bird capable with real noses, brains, stamina, and problem-solving ability
Structurally sound, with field trial championship lines behind them
Biddable, family-ready companions that are as good in the house as they are in the woods
